Revisiting Rajasthan…

As it’s a bit quiet around home today, I thought it an opportune time to get my vintage Rajasthani Printing Blocks out and photograph them to show you.  Also, because I was able to pick up my Kathryn Ireland fabric on Thursday when I was in Melbourne, I knew I now had the perfect backdrop to photograph the blocks on…you’ll see what I mean below.

If you’ve read about me on the About tab above you’ll know that I am totally in love with Paisleys… in spite of (or maybe bacause of) all those paisley blouses my Mother made me wear in the sixties.  So, be prepared for Paisley…

The six vintage Rajasthani printing blocks above are from Jaipur and while I was there I also managed to pick up some small modern day ones, which made nice souvenirs for ‘quilty’ friends back home.   But I kept some for myself too.

The Kathryn Ireland fabric I’ve used as a backdrop is called, appropriately, ‘Quilt’.  I have coveted this fabric for a couple of years now and in a perfect world it would be a slip cover for my sofa,  but that is way beyond my budget so out of my one metre piece I have had on order for 6 weeks I am going to make four gorgeous cushions…I’ll get four because I am going to put something plain on the back.

I hadn’t forgotten the giveaway from last week, though it probably seemed so for those of you waiting…sorry for my tardiness.

Lynne, you are the lucky winner of the Yuwa, wild yellow fabric….if you email me your snail mail address I’ll get it in the post to you straight away.

Thanks for visiting…

there were heaps of these for sale when i visited a textile factory in bali last year – was going to buy some but they would be competing for space with my ‘real real fake’ handbags… wish i had bought them now… they are gorgeous!
